PPX3MenuFix

For use with Corel Photo-Paint X3

Workaround for missing menus after the scripted/automated creation of a new document.

If you weren't aware, creating a new document from a script or VBA macro in Photo-Paint X3, with no documents already open, does not cause PP X3 to display the full selection of menus. This is also a problem if you drag and drop an object from another application such as CorelDRAW into PP X3 without a document already loaded. Unfortunately, this means you're stuck without access to Effects and other commands until you manually create a new document or switch workspaces.

The good news is that I created a workaround for this problem until Corel actually fixes it. I put together an XSLT Workspace patch that will make every menu available at all times, regardless of whether or not you have an open document. Instead of the limited selection of menus in "File Mode," you will now have access to everything present in "Normal Mode." That seems like a bad idea... yet, Photo-Paint X3 does disable any menu item that cannot be used without an open image. Anything you *shouldn't* do is simply grayed out.

Setup

Extract the included XSLT files to a folder on your computer and then do the following: In PP X3, right click a toolbar or menu and choose Customize / Workspace / Import Workspaces... Then, follow the steps in the dialog to load the "ppx3menufix.xslt" file.

I recommend backing up your workspace file before trying this, just in case you don't like it or want to go back to how things were originally at a later date. I'm not sure if this could cause any unexpected behavior from PP X3, but it seems okay to me so far.

To restore the menus to their default state, follow the instructions using the included "ppx3menufix-restore.xslt" file.
