Journal

I thought I would try to express a little of the dullness that is my existence in the form of a journal. In other words, I wanted to share my boredom! Most recent entries are at the top. Keep an eye out for random updates.

P.S.

In association with Amazon.com, I've provided links to some items of interest. Sooner or later I'll work out a nice way to differentiate these links from other content. Any such links are referral links and I may earn a nominal credit of some sort if you buy something through one. You've been warned! Wait... that's a good thing. Okay, so I'm poor and I want to be able to buy more stuff.

Cold Creeps In

10/25/2005

I'm cold, I really am. It's the little things that make me happy. From here, looking out the window, there's that overcast haze that says winter rain. The wind keeps blowing and I'm thinking today would be a nice day for a walk in the woods.

Blue Light Special

10/14/2005

So... along with my purchase of Microsoft Streets & Trips 2006 is a shiny new GPS. I thought it might be nice... until I plugged it in. As it would happen, the GPS glows BLUE when powered. This poses a slight problem for use in a vehicle in my state of Georgia according to the state Senate. A Bill (SB 178) was passed that reads: "Except as provided in this paragraph and subsection (b) of this Code section, it shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation to operate any motor vehicle equipped with or containing a device capable of producing any blue lights, whether flashing, blinking, revolving, or stationary" with minor exceptions that do not include normal vehicles for the general public. This poses an interesting problem: Technically, the GPS included with the software package (which was designed for use in a vehicle) might be illegal if used in a vehicle in some states due to a completely useless light. There's a nice suction cup provided to stick the thing to a window as well. Is that accessory provided to improve reception or to skirt on the precarious edge of the law? I find this all a bit senseless.

Headaches

10/13/2005

So, a few days ago I picked up a copy of Microsoft Streets & Trips 2006 and it seems like it'll be nice. Unfortunately, (and there's always something unfortunate, eh?) it won't open my saved maps from Streets & Trips 2005. You think it'd be nearly flawless at opening files from one version prior. What's worse, it's a complete crash when loading the files. I pulled up the map on the older version and looked but I can't seem to find any way to export the data in any way other than one address at a time. Lame... I've been using it for more than just marking actual addresses... things such as this cool walking trail north of here... so these weren't addresses that I might have imported from an address book. On top of that, I marked some things with custom icons... such as a nice donut on the local Krispy Kreme. Maybe I'll try to contact support about it... I dunno... I'll probably just get a form response back and that's usually annoying. Whatever...

Ha... this is interesting. I installed Streets & Trips 2006 on my laptop and successfully imported a map. Okay... the laptop has XP Pro and the desktop is running 2k Pro. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Finally... it's Fall

10/13/2005

Good news, I've just released a new utility for Corel Photo-Paint 11 and 12. This one's CSC2VBA and it's designed to be a one step tool for converting Script Recordings into VBA macros. This is quite handy in Photo-Paint 12 as you can then assign the macro to a toolbar or menu. Either way, it's a good place to start with Photo-Paint 11 or 12 if you haven't tried working with VBA macros.

Under water

10/06/2005

It's been raining nearly all day... I've been missing the rain. My head hurts today and I feel like I'm lost. Maybe I'll update the site.
