Journal

I thought I would try to express a little of the dullness that is my existence in the form of a journal. In other words, I wanted to share my boredom! Most recent entries are at the top. Keep an eye out for random updates.

P.S.

In association with Amazon.com, I've provided links to some items of interest. Sooner or later I'll work out a nice way to differentiate these links from other content. Any such links are referral links and I may earn a nominal credit of some sort if you buy something through one. You've been warned! Wait... that's a good thing. Okay, so I'm poor and I want to be able to buy more stuff.

Good bye 2003

12/31/2003

Okay, so... it's the last day of the year. I might as well try to wrap things up in some meaningful way, right? Er... so... I finally graduated, met and lost people along the way, actually managed to have some fun, and I listened to a lot of music. I compared last year's music list with this one and it appears that I've added 31 albums since 2002 ended. Scary. Right. Well... That's a pretty fair summary of the year. Now what? I don't have a clue.

Whatever...

Well, I called my school's registrar today and I've apparently graduated. Yay... or something. And the big question... now what? Good question. I really need o overhaul this site so maybe I'll finally get around to it. I think that would make me happy. So... since the registrar call, I've been sorting through an assortment of papers that I've accumulated over the past year. Any time I work on a program or random idea, I tend to sketch out diagrams and notes on odd sheets of paper. Those random pieces of paper end up in large unsorted stacks and start collecting dust rather quickly. I thought today posed a good opportunity to try to organize those and I've actually made some progress on that.

December, as well as 2003, is coming quickly to an end. I really don't know where the time went. I've been keeping busy with various projects, school took up a considerable amount of time, I've been writing, etc., but it just doesn't seem to add up. There are so many things I wanted to do that never happened. I suppose that's the way things have always been and always will be.

I'm not really fond of the holidays

12/23/2003

Well, it's been almost ten days and I haven't really accomplished much of anything useful. There was a family x-mas sort of thing and my sister and her fiancée came down to stay for a week. So, I've been doing a lot of family related stuff. Other than that, at some point, I rearranged furniture and then hooked up the computers after having them offline for almost two days. That really wasted a lot of time but I think it was worth it. However, now I've got some sort of interference that's causing the left half of my monitor's picture to vibrate. It's either a UPS or something else. I need to try moving things around but I don't really want to have to dismantle the computers again. Fun. I've also been working on a project and trying to think through what I want to do with this site. Oh right, and I went to see Return of the King. It was definitely better than the last two Matrix sequels... those were such a disappointment. Unfortunately, now I don't really have anything to look forward to movie-wise... or otherwise for that matter. I guess I'll get back to work... right.

A plethora of poetry

12/14/2003

It's almost 2:30 am and I think I've got an update ready to go online. I thought it might be a good idea to put some more poems online... I mean... after all, I did take a poetry class this semester... and I did have to write quite a bit of it. Other than that, I don't think there's really anything else new worth uploading yet. I thought I would dig through my site logs and see what's been popular this past month. Apparently, I was a short-lived hit on the Kinder message board circuit and people really are in love with "poems about fish." Who would have guessed? In any event, I think it means that I need to update the Kinder Surprise page sometime soon and then get around to writing some more poems about fish. Do fish sticks count? Right. I also get quite a bit of traffic on the Corel Photo-Paint related stuff. I had almost forgotten about the little reference I started for the web design class I enrolled in... oh... way back whenever that was. So, I seriously need to work on it. I don't think I ever linked it within the pages on this site, just through my school site. So... yeah... I thought there might be some people out there that weren't aware that it existed and others that weren't aware I had other Photo-Paint related content in the main site. I've since updated the selection of downloads for that reference to reflect all of the CSC scripts for PP11. As soon as I can get some updated content together for the reference, I think I'll try to migrate it into AntiPoetics as a regular feature.

Panacea

12/12/2003

Well, my finals are over and I'm feeling very much like not thinking for a while. In other news, I went to see Placebo with Marisa last night. They're really great live... but the opening act wasn't so hot. Good thing we didn't get there early. Hmm... what else... I took apart a disposable lighter earlier not really thinking about it (go figure) and of course the flint went flying out of it. (They're spring loaded you know.) So... I get the thing back together after around five minutes of fumbling with it and now the flame's a bit taller than usual.

Right... so... lighters are dangerous, fire's dangerous, and you shouldn't attempt to accidentally do what I did accidentally with my lighter. Hmm.. what else... weird, it feels as if I just typed that a minute ago. Oh wait... I did. Er... yeah. Sitting to my right is a blurry photocopied periodic table of elements. I can hardly make out the names of any of the elements... yet, I still have it after, get this, ten years. See... it was with all of this old school stuff and I've been making an effort to throw things away. So... I ditch the chemistry folder but keep the periodic table. I mean, you never know when something like that will make itself useful... and it will... I assure you. Right.

Uh...

Wow... apparently the game Doom came out 10 years ago today. Er... that's a long time... Come to think of it... I remember installing it from floppies... on a 486... uh... yeah. One of these days I'll find my Doom II wads (custom maps) and put them up with the rest of the downloads. That'd be sweet... lol... right. Anyhow... I spent the day studying, more studying to do tonight, and more to do tomorrow before my final exam. On the bright side, I ended up with a pair of A's in Information Resource Management and Policy as well as my Information Technology Connections Lecture Series course. Right... longest titles of any courses I've ever taken.

Taking a break...

12/10/2003

Taking a break from studying... I thought I would write a little Photo-Paint 11 script to help some people out. PixelResize v1.0 is now available for download from the Corel Photo-Paint 11 scripts page in Stuff, Programs. Enjoy.

Wasting time wasting away...

12/08/2003

Ah... working on take-home finals: one down and one to go. My "real" finals are on Tuesday and Thursday. Fun stuff. Anyhow, the one I've completed is for my poetry class. I'm kinda crazy so I went and made a book out of it. Right... yeah... so... it was supposed to be a portfolio of all of the semester's work, revised versions of poems, new poems, and a paper about everything. I had some old mat board scraps left over from a 2D design class I took a few years ago and thought I could make use of it. Being a packrat finally paid off... joy. Anyhow... I had these scraps, so I made a front, a back, and a spine for the cover. After that, I punched some holes and fit everything together and bound it with some aluminum screw posts. Very nice. Anyhow, I still have to write another paper before five PM... but that's almost fifteen hours from now. I think I even have time to sleep... wow...

Six o'clock seems so far away...

12/03/2003

I just started on yet another paper. I'm not an English major... what's up with that? I currently have three or four papers (well, it's four, but I'm probably only going to do three) that I need to write, a portfolio thing, and lots of studying that I still need to do. I should still be asleep; it's 4:01 pm. Right. Back to work.

Another day, another month...

12/1/2003

I'm happy and productive today... no clue why either. Oh well. So, I've written two papers, I'm about to work on a presentation that I have to give tonight, I've got half of another paper written, I ordered a couple of books and the Amelie soundtrack from Amazon, and checked the tracking on the Blood book. The laces on one of my boots broke last week and I avoided having to replace them by using cable ties... er right. So, anyway... I've got some new laces now and the left one's good as new... er... it is new. I need to work on the right one sometime soon... maybe tomorrow. Hmm... what else... ah... the weather's cold. Maybe that's partly why I'm happy. Uh... yeah. Hmm... other news... Marisa invited me to go see Placebo with her on the 10th in Atlanta. That should be exciting. Other than that, I'm looking forward to my finals and the end of this semester. It's almost over and it seems as if it started only a few weeks ago. I guess time went by pretty quickly after I met Wendy. When things are really good, they never seem to last long. I really didn't write much at all about everything that happened in October. I was just busy with too many other things. Somewhere in there I ended up with her at Six Flags and had a lot of fun, we went bowling, played some pool, played Mrs. Pacman, got hot Pumpkin Pie Spice donuts from Krispy Kreme that kicked ass, watched a couple of episodes of Sealab 2021 and Family Guy, watched Amelie (that would have been the first time for me), Buffalo '66, Dreamcatcher, and some other movie that I can't remember the name of at this point in time... looked through around a hundred packs of film that I had in my closet, played Cranium, and Jenga... and I think that's the bulk of it. November was pretty much as I described it. Not a great deal of anything going on at the moment. I need to get back to work on that presentation and then put together my portfolio for the poetry writing class I'm taking. It's supposed to be 20-30 pages according to the assignment. Joy. Okay, right... back to work.
