Journal

I thought I would try to express a little of the dullness that is my existence in the form of a journal. In other words, I wanted to share my boredom! Most recent entries are at the top. Keep an eye out for random updates.

P.S.

In association with Amazon.com, I've provided links to some items of interest. Sooner or later I'll work out a nice way to differentiate these links from other content. Any such links are referral links and I may earn a nominal credit of some sort if you buy something through one. You've been warned! Wait... that's a good thing. Okay, so I'm poor and I want to be able to buy more stuff.

Boo

If you haven't had an opportunity to check out www.origamiboulder.com, I highly recommend it. I first came across the site last year... or maybe it was the year before. In any event, it's pure genius. To top it off, sometime recently a link was added to a song someone put together about, or using as a symbol, the origami boulder. Great stuff. Seriously, go check it out, read the mail and download the song. You probably won't regret it.

In other news, it's almost Halloween... joy. I'm hoping I'll get to spend some time with Wendy. However, I have no clue what we'll end up doing. Maybe rent some horror movies? Eh, who knows. She's been really busy and I've been keeping busy... busy, busy, busy. I'd love a vacation, but I think she needs one far more than me. Yeah... and besides, I don't need to think about vacations. I'm going to have progressively less free time from now until December. Between school, several projects, a research paper, and other crap, I have a few programming projects I'm working on, an exciting yet never-to-be-seen update to this site (just kidding), and... um... I know I'm forgetting something. Right... I need to figure out what I'm supposed to do because right now I'm drawing a blank and this time yesterday I was thinking I'd never have time to get everything together. Wish me luck.

One AM

10/28/2003

It's almost one in the morning and I need to write two poems for my poetry class. I've got nine hours to sleep and write. Somehow I think I can pull this off. In other news, I've updated AntiPoetics. Shocking, eh? I meant to do it sooner but then I came up with a really good idea and thought I would hold off until I tested some things out. I also set up a blog, but I'm not too sure if I'm going to use it or just write something of my own. I'm thinking the whole idea is very nice. I'm also thinking I could put something much better together that would be better suited to what I want to do. Unfortunately, it'll probably be another two months before I can even start on it. Wendy came over earlier and she's off reading Ethan Frome. She wanted something and it was relatively easy to find. Most of my paperback books are in an old dresser along with computer cables and assorted other "stuff." I'm pretty good at arranging things in drawers to maximize the space... and that means looking for something requires half of the drawer's content to be removed in order to reach anything on the bottom. So... yeah... Ethan Frome was on the top. I'm going to try to go knock out the two poems and then I'll see what she's doing. Now for the hard part... what to write about?

Keeping busy

10/21/2003

Things have been pretty good lately. I guess there isn't a great deal to say. Wendy and I have been hanging out a lot... which has been amazing. In some random twist of fate, we both like fried okra. How bizarre is that? Okay, it probably isn't that odd. We went to see Kill Bill, Volume 1 on Saturday and it was pretty good. (I'm pretty sure that's right but I lost my ticket stub so I can't verify it.) I was very relieved to find that they hadn't used much of the slow motion crap typical of action movies from the last several years. Basic plot: lots of blood and sword fighting. Yep.

Not much else happened this weekend. Class has been going well and I've been keeping busy. I'm trying to gather together some material for an update but it's taking a lot longer than I had intended. (Yes, that's always the case.) Anyhow... after class tonight, Wendy and I went to IHOP for some... yes, fried okra. Okay, that wasn't the only reason; we also got pancakes and some other stuff. I've taken a liking to pouring blueberry syrup into Coke. It's great... try it. I also bought a copy of The Nightmare Before Christmas on DVD. I don't know that I've seen that movie since it was originally released in theaters. My friend Melissa brought it up on several occasions last year and I had fully intended to see it again. I think I'll have ample opportunity to do so now. Hmm... what else is new?

As far as updates go, I'm adding some CSC scripts for Corel Photo-Paint 11 to the Programs page. The fate of the CSC macro functionality in PP11 was questionable and so I thought I'd go with VBA macros. They're nice... but CSC files are pretty convenient and I'm sure there are a lot of people out there that still want to use that format. Might as well let everyone have the same scripts I made available for PP9 and PP10, eh? I also updated the Here page in Tsumaranai with some hastily slapped-together graphics. For anyone wondering what AntiPoetics HQ looks like, you now have the means to find out. There's some other stuff I'm trying to kludge together... a few poems (you can thank my Poetry Writing class) as well as a new Web Cam image. I know... you're dying to find out what I look like this month. I'm also experimenting with Blogger in hopes that I can force myself to move to real time posting for the journal. Shocking, eh? You will find out soon if it works as I hope it will.

Bookworms ate my brain

10/15/2003

I've been too busy lately working on far too many things. On top of that, I had a friend recently accuse me of abandoning them. Apparently I'm not around as often as I should be. Well, all I can say is that I'm sorry... and that things will probably get better. Other than that, I've been writing random poetry for my poetry class, working on some programs, spending time with Wendy, trying to find time to sleep, going to class over and over, etc... Tonight was good though, Wendy and I went shopping and bought books and chocolate. Maybe that's a bad combination, eh? I now have a copy of "Grimm's Complete Fairy Tales." Joy. Much reading to do as soon as I can find some time... maybe December? I also bought a poetry book (written by my poetry professor) and read it cover to cover. The good news is that it was short so it didn't take long at all to read... the bad news is that it was short and it didn't take long at all. Hmm... I wanted to update but for some reason I can't get online. Oh well... I should get some sleep anyway.

Photo Op.

10/09/2003

Wendy has been requesting that I add her photo to my friends page and I was taking too long with updating the site. It was either update the page or risk actually making her sad. So, I finally added a web cam pic of the two of us... for your viewing pleasure, it's up now in the People I Know (a.k.a. Friends) page in Tsumaranai Album. I don't think she's too happy with the photo, but I told her I'd change it out as soon as she lets me take a new one to replace it.

If my dreams were this good, I'd never wake up

10/06/2003

Wendy and I are officially dating. Ooh, and she bought me a copy of the Pixies' album, Doolittle. After that, she gave me tapes! She actually gave me a great assortment of music on good old-fashioned cassette tapes. Now I have something to listen to in my car. Anyhow, I don't know how I managed to forget to write anything in here for so long. So many notable things happened and I was too busy doing them to write about it. Go figure.
