AntiPoetics - Poetry - For Socks: Two Feet

For Socks: Two Feet

For my socks I have two warm feet,
For them I stand so tall,
For white elastic poly blend,
For spring, winter, summer, fall.

For my socks are as my holey shroud,
For they wear thin in several places,
For dirt that stains the heal and toe,
For threads that shred to traces.

For my socks absorb my walking sweat,
For they keep my shoes' smell serene,
For pairs I lose to laundry lost,
For replacements new and clean.

For my socks I have my dignity,
For them my feet are never bare,
For floors that are far too cold,
For my pedestrian underwear.
