Journal

I thought I would try to express a little of the dullness that is my existence in the form of a journal. In other words, I wanted to share my boredom! Most recent entries are at the top. Keep an eye out for random updates.

P.S.

In association with Amazon.com, I've provided links to some items of interest. Sooner or later I'll work out a nice way to differentiate these links from other content. Any such links are referral links and I may earn a nominal credit of some sort if you buy something through one. You've been warned! Wait... that's a good thing. Okay, so I'm poor and I want to be able to buy more stuff.

Getting colder

10/16/2004

Two days to go until Pumpkin Pie Spice donut bliss. Krispy Kreme has these limited edition sort of iced pumpkin cake donuts every fall and I'm addicted. Last year Wendy and I sat in the Krispy Kreme parking lot at maybe two in the morning for nearly an hour waiting to get some hot. I think I was in molten sugar donut heaven. We reminisced about it recently. Oh yeah.

Apparently I forgot my Chuck books in the back seat of Wendy's car after the book signing last month. Yeah... I'm slow... I need to get those back from her sometime soon. Thankfully though, the weather's been really cool lately so perhaps the glue won't die in the sunlight. Speaking of the weather, I can't get enough of the weather right now. It's cold out! Yay! It's an amazing 67 degrees Fahrenheit at my desk. Well... Okay, that's not exactly cold. It's definitely better than 78. Actually, weather aside, I think limiting myself to two computers has dramatically impacted the average temperature of this room. Who knows? I should make a graph or something. Right. Either way, my fingers are cold in that slightly numb flesh sort of way. Ah... typing bliss. (That tied this entry up nicely, eh?)

I bailed on the concert and have decided instead on going to sleep... because it's so much cheaper, I don't have to leave the house, and my ears won't hate me in the morning. Yeah.

Not quite finished

Yesterday Lauryn and I went to see the Donnie Darko Director's Cut. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect as I had been avoiding reviews of it. If you've seen the special features from the original DVD, they've added in a lot of the deleted stuff along with some random new overlays, cuts, edits, soundtrack changes, blah blah blah, etc.. Yeah. I was disappointed at some of the changes and happy with others. Essentially, it's the same, but it's different. Yeah. In any event, it was grand seeing it on a big screen. Shame I missed it when it originally hit the theaters. Hmm... plans for tonight? Lauryn invited me to go see the Dresden Dolls in Athens, GA. Until then, I'm actually working on updates for this site. Scary, eh?

Hmmm...

So far today has been a good day. I went to see Shaun of the Dead and found it quite amusing. When I came back, I checked the forums at collide.net and found that the banner I submitted was one of the winners in their contest. Sweet... Free CD? Since then, I've been working on stuff for this site. I've actually been working on bits and pieces of it since yesterday. Amazing, eh? I'm completely reorganizing the site... finally. I'm making these changes on the master copy and that means that they will make it up the next time I intend to upload an update for anything other than this journal. However, it could also mean that I'll never update again. I mentioned that to my friend Jennifer and she said she'd check the site in a few years. Yeah. Anyhow... back to work on this thing while I've got the time and I'm still feeling motivated.

Nostalgia

10/07/2004

I don't know where I've been for the past few months. Apparently I haven't written anything since May. That's a long time... too long. Somewhere in all of that I dated a girl named Lauryn and broke up with her. She made a painting for me... and is the only person to this point to have ever done that. I also spent some time with Wendy and accompanied her to Chapel Hill, NC to see Chuck Palahniuk. I shook his hand and he signed some books. Oh yeah. I don't know what else has gone on. Today I got a random e-mail from a random stranger saying something along the lines of, "Maybe you should get out more." Yeah, that's exactly what it said. Before writing this, I was listening to some old Information Society stuff from the albums Hack and Don't Be Afraid. After that it was the soundtrack from Ecco The Dolphin, the old Sega CD game. For a minute there, things felt normal, how they used to feel back in the mid 90's. I don't know what happened to me, what changed, why and how I completely lost myself. It's funny, the other day I gutted my old file server. It's a PC that I've had running nearly every day since 1997... loaded down with six hard drives, a cd-rom jukebox, and some other trash. I pulled one of the hd's and put it in my development box for kicks. Things sound different without the whine of those extra fans. I think the case has four rather large fans in it actually. White noise may be my downfall. It's as good of a scapegoat as any, eh? I really should update this site... I mean, I need to put up some new content. I kept avoiding it while working on other things. I had this project in mind for overhauling the layout, but I don't think I'll ever get around to it. So, that has basically meant stagnation. Take away the poems and journal entries I've added over the past two years and what else on this thing isn't more than a few years old? Dust, I'm collecting dust. That should inspire a new page for the Junk section, but I'm not really feeling that motivated towards putting up photos of dust bunnies. Maybe I'll upload some "new" photos in Strange Place. That shouldn't be hard... I have a few years worth to choose from. Wish me luck.
