Journal

I thought I would try to express a little of the dullness that is my existence in the form of a journal. In other words, I wanted to share my boredom! Most recent entries are at the top. Keep an eye out for random updates.

P.S.

In association with Amazon.com, I've provided links to some items of interest. Sooner or later I'll work out a nice way to differentiate these links from other content. Any such links are referral links and I may earn a nominal credit of some sort if you buy something through one. You've been warned! Wait... that's a good thing. Okay, so I'm poor and I want to be able to buy more stuff.

Well, Corel finally released Service Patch 1 for CDGS 11 a few days ago. It supposedly fixed a lot of things but I haven't had much time to look. I've been far too busy with other things. Maybe I'll have time in March. Oh wait, March 1st arrived 5 hours ago. Okay, I'm a bit late. More news in March I guess.

As for other things, I've been unpacking boxes of books, computer components, and many years worth of assorted stuff. I'm not sure what else to call it actually. I also managed to read Choke by Chuck Palahniuk. If you're wondering how I found time: it's a short book, I read fast, I had to have something I could call "entertainment" or my life would otherwise be classifiable as an endless stream of school, sleep, and coding.

Not much has happened this month other than my moving to a new place. It's been a huge waste of time if nothing else. For the past three weeks I have not had much of an Internet connection and I still don't have anything remotely fast. I think there are some problems with the phone lines at the new house and so something will have to be done about that. Life sucks when there's no Internet access! lol... Other fun things were a two-week refrigeration void that basically meant I didn't eat much and anything I made went largely to waste since I had no refrigerator with which I could keep leftovers. On top of that I've been trying to deal with school and the program I started last September. It's so very close to completion and I really want to get everything nailed down. Coding takes time and sanity and I have little of either right now. Somehow I think I'll manage... I hope.

Ever since I first knew what an astronaut was, space and the people who explored it were something dear to my heart. When you're a little kid and you see a space shuttle take off on television for the first time, it's amazing. Everything that goes in to it, escaping the boundaries of this planet, the mysterious black void of space, and weightlessness, it's something to dream about. I remember watching the Challenger explode into a giant ball of smoke and fire on television too. I don't know why, but it was something that really moved me. These people who were doing something so unbelievably great, something I could dream about but would never get that close to, were lost. Now, to wake up to the news that it's almost 1986 all over again. These are tragic times and this event is just one more layer of ash and soot. It's a shame... it's a terrible shame. It hurts to have your dreams crushed and it's even more painful to know how wrong a dream can turn out for those fortunate enough to see theirs become a reality.
